A shelf is not a crease
Midsize persists because it is easy to order by the case. Palms did not attend that meeting.
Ask a big-box wall what most people should hold. It will say midsize in a voice that has never sat on Third Street. The letter is a compromise between a small hand that got tired of pencils and a large hand that got tired of being told to “just relax.” Compromises are for treaties. They are a poor tool for a heel pad.
We still stock the core. We stock jumbo too. The wall is a starting inventory, not a theology. When the caliper writes a number that sits in the alley between them, Len tapes the smaller one. Salespeople hate alleys. Alleys are where the actual palms live.
The default myth is sticky because it flatters indecision. You can buy midsize without feeling like you made a claim about your body. Claiming a 64th feels intimate, which is ridiculous, and also true. We will sit in that discomfort with you for forty minutes. Then you can go back to pretending it was always a letter if you need to, but the ticket will still have a fraction.
