A white line is not a request for a bump
People show us a ridge on the left pad and ask for a reminder rib. That is like asking for a speed bump because the lane is too narrow.
The mark means the handle is fighting the palm. A rib adds a second fight. Some players live on a rib and can explain it in a sentence that is not a magazine. Those people can have a rib. The rest are trying to hide a width error with jewelry.
We photograph the mark against the pine board. Then we change 64ths. When the mark fades after a week of honest width, nobody asks for the bump. When it does not fade, we look at the trail hand, because sometimes the left is compensating for a right that is on a pencil.
If a YouTube voice told you the rib would “quiet the face,” that voice has never sat through a Harrisburg winter with a swollen leather wrap. Quiet comes from a crease that is not screaming. Bumps are costume.
