January is a different palm
The capitol complex runs on dry heat. The river runs on wet cold. Your hands commute between them.
Office workers who play on weekends live in two climates. Weekdays: radiator air that turns a palm into vellum. Saturdays: a frost delay and a glove that was a good idea until it wasn’t. Sizing only on a Saturday in August is how you get a summer novel about a winter person.
We wait for pink. If you walk in from Walnut Street with white fingers, we talk for eight minutes on purpose. The first caliper pass on a white hand is fiction. Priya has ended more arguments with a mug of water and a pause than with a speech.
If you do not play until the dogwoods, say so. We will still measure, and we will write “summer only” on the ticket so a future shop does not “correct” you in December. Future shops love to correct. Give them a sentence to trip over.
